Baptisms
Baptism is a sacred and historic practice of the Christian faith. At City Movement Church, we baptize those who have personally chosen to follow Jesus and are ready to publicly profess that faith. We practice baptism by full immersion in water as a joyful, church-wide celebration of new life in Christ.
If you have placed your trust in Jesus, baptism is a beautiful and important next step in your journey of discipleship.
What Is Baptism?
Baptism is a public expression of faith and a powerful sign of God’s saving grace. Through baptism, we visibly identify with Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection. Going under the water symbolizes the end of our old life apart from Christ. Rising from the water reflects the new life we now live in Him.
As Scripture says in Romans 6:3–5, we are buried with Christ through baptism and raised to walk in newness of life. Baptism paints the picture of the Gospel — that through Jesus, we are forgiven, cleansed, and made new.
Baptism does not earn our salvation. We are saved by grace through faith. Baptism is the outward declaration of an inward transformation. It is our embodied way of saying: Jesus is Lord, and I belong to Him.'
Who Should Be Baptized?
At City Movement Church, baptism is for those who:
Have personally placed their faith and trust in Jesus Christ
Have made a conscious decision to follow Him
Are ready to publicly declare their faith
Are connected to the life of our church community
Baptism is not just a private moment, it is a family celebration. Because of this, we baptize those who are part of our church community. Our heart is not simply to facilitate an event, but to walk with people in authentic discipleship. We desire to know you, support you, and continue growing together as a spiritual family.
If you were baptized as an infant and are now personally placing your faith in Jesus, we would love to have a conversation with you about what baptism could look like at this stage of your journey.
